Post 16 Home Learning Package

In light of the government measures in place in response to Covid-19, the Inclusion Hampshire team have developed a bespoke home learning package for each of our learners.

From the start of the Summer term we will be introducing Google Classroom in addition to the package of measures introduced prior to the Eater holidays.

Our virtual School Package will include:

  • Access to Inclusion Hampshire’s Google Classroom, with each learner being given their own @inclusionhampshire.org.uk email account, and enable a Virtual classroom environment in which all learners and tutors are together
  • Access to Seneca Learning, an online learning platform
  • Bespoke Home Learning Package for those unable to access online material
  • Continued 1-1 tutor support by email when necessary outside of Google Classroom
  • Phone calls from a member of our pastoral and therapeutic team also available for support

Google Classroom

This is a virtual learning environment that intends to replicate, as closely as possible, a school classroom. Tutors will also be online in the classroom, ready to help and support with each assignment.

Tutors are able to create tasks that can be completed on Google Docs, provide explanatory video links and set assignments on Seneca Learning by using Google Classroom. It also enables all learners to communicate with each other and their tutors at the same time, thus helping re-establish some social contacts that may have otherwise been lost.

It should be noted that Google Classroom does not include any direct video or audio communication.

Each Inclusion Hampshire learner has been given a new email address (see attached link explaining how to access this and Google Classroom) as part of this package.

Once learners have logged on, they will see instructions for how to use Google Classroom. We anticipate that there will be a few issues to overcome to start but staff are ready to support learners in overcoming these.

Seneca Learning

Learners will continue to access Seneca Learning – an online platform. This can be accessed by laptop/computer or phone.

Tutors will be setting assignments which learners will see when they log in and it is important to balance their time between English and Math.  Students and tutors will be able to see how they are progressing.

Bespoke Home Learning Package

There are some who find it more difficult to access online learning or do not have access to laptops/computers. The work provided here will be extremely important to these learners to ensure they are still able to continue their education.

If you require more worksheets, please email Marie (marie.greenhalgh@inclusionhampshire.org.uk) and she will send some via email attachment or printed worksheets in the post (please specify your preference in the email).

Tutor Support

It is important that learners maintain the structure they would normally have been provided by their timetable to ensure continuity and familiarity. However, we do acknowledge that this is not always possible. Marie will be available throughout the day (10am-4pm) should a learner need help with work.

Pastoral & Therapeutic Support

Many of you will have already received a phone call or email from us. This will continue throughout this period.

Some of this will take place during a learner’s timetabled session. For example, if they were due to see James on a Friday between 10am-11am, they should expect a phone call during this time. Please be aware that these phone calls will appear as “caller unknown” (or similar).

We are aware that online learning is not the ideal situation for some of our learners. Nevertheless, it is important to maintain contact with our team to ensure that this period of disruption does not adversely affect each learner’s progress they have made during their time at Inclusion Hampshire.

Following the introduction of Google Classroom we are not planning to introduce any other elements to our online learning environment. Our learners have all been brilliant in adapting to each new platform and it is important that we build continuity and consistency using these until we are able to reopen.

As always, we would appreciate feedback from learners and yourselves to help us provide the best support we can during this time.

We thank you for your support during this uncertain and challenging time.

The team will keep in regular contact with you all but please do not hesitate to contact Marie on marie.greenhalgh@inclusionhampshire.org.uk with any comments, concerns or queries.
